December 25th
Just a quick update. I have ten copies of Hi Ho,
Six Shooter!'s latest cd, A Brief Discourse on Death and Dying; Or, The
Gravedigger's Muddy Shovel for sale. These will be $6ppd alone or
if you buy a copy of the old cd with it, $10 for both. I also still
have some Operation: Cliff Clavin / Max Levine Ensemble splits left.
There still isn't a set date for the release of the HH6S / On The Strings Of
split, but I'm optimistic. In yet a little more HH6S news, they're
going on tour here in a few days, the dates are in the shows section of this
site. Also, in 2006 I want to start releasing some cd-rs and tapes and
if you're interested, you should e-mail me.
August 4th
Hello! I guess it's about time for an update.
Not much has happened. The Hot New Mexicans' LP is in a sort of state
of limbo. I don't know when or if it's still coming out. It's
possible that it will end up being a 7" or something else. The Hi Ho,
Six Shooter! / On The Strings Of split is at least partially recorded and
what I've heard sounds great. I'm expecting it to be out anytime
between September and the end of the year. I've refined my search for
a second job ( in other words I've started it) so once I start one things
will pick up. There are at least a couple of things that were supposed
to happen that probably won't but that's life. In other news I've
started working on my art stuff a little bit again. I did art that is
supposed to be used for a Tunes For Bears To Dance To / El Minotaur split 7"
which will either be the main art or the tour cover. I'm pretty
excited about it and want to continue to get back into that stuff. If
your band needs artwork, see the "other stuff" section for details about how
to get me to do it for more or less free.
April 18th
First and foremost, it's my brother's (picture)
birthday. I think you can probably tell which one of us is the one who
puts out records and which one is in the army. So happy birthday to
him. Second, I seem to have posted on here that I have a new address,
but failed to actually post the right one in the contact section. So
it's there now. In other news, the Hot New Mexicans LP will be sent to
press soon, and they are going on tour with Sexy from Pensacola and on Onion
Flavored Records and Plan-It-X South. I posted the dates in the
'shows' section. The CD version of it will be on Salinas Records, who have
been added to the 'links' page. If you want a hand made copy of the Hi
Ho, Six Shooter! (who recently played at Macrock!) cd, you'd better order it
soon because soon it will be the things of ebay legends. Or if you'd
rather wait for the newest repress then that's cool too. There's more
info on that in the 'releases' section. Some pretty exciting news in
regards to the former Bear Is Driving!!, they're back together.....well, not
exactly. The members of BID!! have regrouped to form a new band called
Plesiosaur. They have 6 songs written and I'm told that "it sounds
like if fugazi did speed for five days and listened to nothing but fastcore
.....or something", so I can't wait to hear that. It's undetermined if
this will change anything with the BID/ OMG You're Dead split, only time
will tell. That's all for now, check back soon!
March 24th
Hi Ho, Six Shooter! have a new 7" out on Little Dipper
Records. You can order it from them by sending $4.50 paypal to
loveamerican@gmail.com . This 7"
is their best work yet, so check it out.
March 16th
*NEW ADDRESS ALERT*(find it under the order section)
Ok, I was without internet for a week or so, then I had
trouble updating, but now everything is ok. Cleveland was a blast!
Thanks to Patrick, Joe, Ginger, the Can Kickers, The Counter Clockwise, the
homeless guy in Memphis, and anyone else who provided a ride, place to stay,
directions, food or anything else. The entire trip only cost me about
$65 even counting beer and the key chain that I bought at Sun Studios.
There's not a whole lot of news to report. I got to hear the Hot New
Mexicans album, and I'm very excited and eager to put it out. I think
I heard one of the songs that On The Strings Of is putting on the Hi Ho Six
Shooter! split, but I'm not sure. Speaking of Hi Ho, Six Shooter!,
there's going to be another pressing of 'Passing Through Just Like a
Ghost' but it's going to be a real pressing this time. So if you
want the warmth and comfort of a hand made release, buy it now because it's
going to be all cold and machine made soon. Oh, and there is a little
rumor floating around that if it ends up being true it will change one of
the upcoming releases into something else entirely, but I'll let you wonder
what that is.
February 21st
I'm leaving for Cleveland today, and I might be in my new
apartment by the time I get back, so I'm not really sure when I'll have
internet again.
February 17th
I just got in the On The Strings Of cds, I only have a
few copies so e-mail me first so that I can set it aside for you. It's
$6ppd, or I'll sell you that and a Hi Ho Six Shooter cd for $10ppd.
February 16th
I've seen Hot New Mexicans play but I haven't had the
pleasure of meeting them yet, so I'm going to Cleveland, Mississippi next
week. I'm going to go to a show to watch Jason Anderson, The Can
Kickers, Counter-Clockwise and Love Zombie and I'm really looking forward to
it. I'm taking a greyhound there but I'm riding back here with The Can
Kickers and Counter-Clockwise. So now would be a good time to place an
order for a Hi Ho Six Shooter CD so that it can help with the "Give The Can
Kickers Some Gas Money Fund". If I get your order before they leave
town, I'll send you something extra for being so swell! Thanks a ton
to the people I've already gotten orders from, and especially Geoff
Schilling for being my first order.
February 1st
The Hi Ho, Six Shooter! CD is out now. The going away /
re-release party was a blast. Thanks a lot to Steven for making my departure
even more awesome than I could ever hope. I'm sure we'll do it again some
day in St Louis or Blanchester or both. To buy the CD send $6ppd cash or
money order (made out to Cody Cook) to Cody C/O Radical Ruckus 7493 Harlan
Walk St Louis, MO 63123. Sorry, no checks. I'll also take pay pal to
RadicalRuckus@gmail.com, just add a little extra for the fees.
January 11th
First update! The Hi Ho, Six Shooter! repress
should be available starting January 28th. They, or at least one of them,
are going to come back to Brohio and playing another going away party. To be
on the safe side, I'd send orders to the St. Louis address, which I will
post in a couple of days. There will be more info in the shows section about
this show. Also, I'm releasing a CD for youandwhatarmy which has a couple of
ex-BEAR IS DRIVING!! members. That's about it for now, I'm excited to start
working on this stuff.
January 2005
Radical Ruckus first
started in 2002 as a publishing company, but hadn't done much since then
until recently. I guess it's just an all encompassing company for my many
projects. At first it was meant to be the company name that I put out my
zines and comics under, then it became a promotions company and now it is a
record label. I sometimes have a tendency to not finish things when I start
them, but lately I've been kicking it into high gear and trying to make the
best of it. I'm currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio, but I'll be moving to
St. Louis very soon. My only real goals for Radical Ruckus records are to
contribute to the musical community that I care so much about. I want to
break even at the very least so that I can continue. I've found I get a
real sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when something I plan comes to
fruition. I'm not quite old and jaded yet, I still get really excited about
things and I intend to get the most out of it while I still can. Any band
that I release anything for or offer to, it's because I think they share a
similar purpose in their goals and I like their music. I have a few
upcoming releases that I am hoping to put out, the ones I'm pretty
confident about are in the 'releases' section. I love every band and every
member of every band I've ever done anything with. I hope you like it.
